The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a hard act to follow. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has once again proven itself a worthy SUV for families, for fun-loving individuals, and for adventure seekers. The 2017 seeks to continue that tradition. The 2016 edition earned a Lowest Cost to Own Award from Kelley Blue Book. It also earned a Best Resale Value award. The all-new 2017 edition is the best go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle you can buy, according to the auto critic Edmunds.
Performance Specs
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a best-in-class powertrain, and the 2017 edition continues that tradition. The engine kicks out 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Adding value, the larger Wrangler Unlimited boasts the same gas mileage as the smaller two-door Wrangler. The Unlimited can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The Cold Weather package adds an engine-coolant heater. A six-speed manual is standard, but a five-speed automatic is also popular. Hill start assist and hill descent control can make travel easier. Another good idea continued with the 2017 edition is the choice of two drivetrains. The first is highly capable, utilizing high- and low-end torque for easier maneuvering on or off the road. The second is the most trail oriented, enjoying an extra-crawl ratio thanks an upgraded transfer case and its unique short gearing.
Appearance Upgrades
Since its introduction in 2007, the Wrangler Unlimited has slowly changed with the times. The off-roader continues to have high, tight bumpers and other overhangs, making sure it can handle trail riding. It also has high ground clearance and special skid plates. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited continued the movement toward a look that is as sporty as it is athletic. The iconic look with its signature seven-slot grille is still there, but this is definitely a 21st Century machine. For 2017, Jeep has made LED headlights and fog lights available on many Wrangler Unlimited. The interior picks up a Cold Weather package which adds a remote starter, all-weather floor mats, and heated seats.
Whereas the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has offered 11 models, the 2017 lineup will offer only eight. That means that shoppers have a limited time only to get the 2016 Black Bear, Freedom, or Backcountry editions. The 2017 lineup includes specials like the Willy’s Wheeler and 75th Anniversary editions. Based on the Sahara, the 75th edition has winch-ready steel bumpers, special exterior paint, and a Power Dome hood. The Rubicon Hard Rock, a big favorite, has black trim, black wheels, upgraded rock rails, and tow hooks. As the top trim of the 2017 Wrangler Unlimited, it also has black leather upholstery and heated seats.
I would like to install a cargo cover in my 2017 Wrangler 2 dr. Sahara. Which screw driver tool do I need? My research says the torque T 40 screw driver. Is this true? I have tried every screw driver I posses to no avail. So, I am off to purchase one. Can you confirm this is the proper tool? Thank you Bob Scott
